CHAPTER 1: Number and Numeration
The activities in Chapter 1 will enable pupils to identify, read, sort, classify, count, write, compare and order correctly whole numbers 1 to 99; identify, read and write the number 0; recognize that the number 0 stands for nothingness; recognize 10 as a group and use idea of place value of tens and units; identify, read and write the word and ordinal forms of whole numbers 1 to 20.
CHAPTER 2: Fractions
The activities in Chapter 2 will enable pupils to
identify one-half using concrete shapes and objects;
identify one-quarter using concrete shapes and objects;
identify fractions, especially one-half and one-quarter from the things around them;
fold shapes into two and four equal parts;
cut shapes into two and four equal parts;
Understand fractions from the perspective of sharing things equally;
Understand fractions from the perspective of adding equal things to make a whole.
CHAPTER 3: Addition and Subtraction
At the end of Chapter 3 activities, pupils should be able to
add whole numbers with sum not greater than 40 without exchanging/regrouping;
subtract whole numbers not greater than 18;
find missing numbers in Addition and Subtraction problems;
cross-check correctness of addition and subtraction in every day life.
CHAPTER 4: Mensuration and Geometry
The activities in Chapter 4 will prepare pupils to recognize, measure, compare, order, add and subtract money, time, weight, and length; trace coins using white and brown papers; identify, sort out, distinguish between, and mention three-dimensional shapes including cube, cuboid, cylinder, and sphere; identify, sort out, distinguish between, and mention two-dimensional shapes including square, rectangle and circle.
